Vision Statement
Who is Jesus?
Jesus as God incarnate: Christians believe Jesus is not merely a teacher but the Messiah, the Son of God. His life and actions, as recorded in the Gospels, reveal God’s nature and purpose. The challenge presented is to consider whether Jesus was deluded, lying, or truthful in his claims. This argument invites readers to engage with the Gospels and wrestle with the question of who Jesus truly is. The belief in Jesus’ death, resurrection, and promise to return shapes Christian faith, as His life brings believers into a restored relationship with God.
What is a Christian?
Christians are made holy: Through Jesus' sacrificial death, Christians believe they are made holy—not by their own efforts but by accepting the gift of grace. They are called to live out that holiness, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Living out holiness: The Christian life is not about perfection but about growing in love for God and others. This life is marked by virtues like compassion, kindness, and patience, which are manifestations of the Spirit's work in the believer.
What is the Church?
The Church as a new family: The Church is not a building but a community of people spiritually united through faith in Jesus. This unity is diverse, transcending backgrounds and cultures, yet grounded in mutual love and service.
Purpose of the Church: The Church is to display God’s goodness and work together to grow in faith and share the message of Jesus with others.
Our Vision:
Love Jesus Christ: Loving God with all one's heart, soul, mind, and strength, as commanded in the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37). This love begins with Jesus’ sacrificial act on the cross and is nurtured through personal relationship and obedience to His word.
Live Like Jesus Christ: Jesus’ love for humanity calls believers to live sacrificially, imitating His love and teachings in everyday life. Discipleship involves learning from Jesus and growing in His likeness by the Holy Spirit.
Lead others to Jesus Christ: Jesus’ commission to go and make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20) is a central goal for Christians. This involves sharing the gospel and drawing others into the transformative relationship with Jesus.
How are we going to do this?
Acts 2:42-47, 4:31: The early church serves as a model for the Christian community. The key activities are:
Apostles' Teaching: Studying and applying the Bible, which is seen as the authoritative word of God.
Partnership: Working together as the body of Christ, sharing resources, serving, and praying for one another.
Breaking of Bread and Prayer: Regularly remembering Jesus’ sacrifice through communion and seeking God's help through prayer.
Serving Others: Like Jesus, Christians are called to serve those in need, both spiritually and practically.
Conclusion:
The vision of this Church revolves around loving Jesus, living like Jesus, and leading others to Jesus. It’s a holistic view of the Christian life, emphasizing both personal transformation and community involvement. The Church's practices are designed to cultivate these values and spread the love of Christ to those around them.
